| Item | Current beta treatment |
|---|---|
| Tertius Windows app | No app access fee is charged for the controlled private beta. |
| Installer and account access | An approved email unlocks a short-lived private download link and passwordless tester sign-in. |
| Transcription | Currently 120 managed transcription minutes per tester account each month, subject to beta limits. |
| Cleanup and outcomes | A managed monthly outcome-processing allowance is included. Request and concurrency limits also apply. |
| OpenAI account | Not required. Tertius keeps its OpenAI credential on the server; it is never embedded in the desktop app. |
| Future production service | No subscription price, credit price, launch date, or permanent free allowance has been announced. |
How the tester allowance works
Tertius measures transcription duration and managed outcome processing against monthly account limits. The service also applies per-minute request limits, daily request limits, and concurrency controls. These safeguards keep access fair, contain cost, and reduce abuse during the beta.
The current transcription default is 120 minutes per month. The outcome allowance covers cleanup and selected transformations such as summaries, notes, and emails. Limits can be adjusted as capacity, provider costs, and real tester behavior are measured; tester access does not promise a permanent quantity or future price.
What email-gated access means
The email gate controls distribution of an early Windows tester build and identifies the tester account. A successful signup returns a private installer link that expires after 30 minutes. In the app, the tester requests a six-digit sign-in code at the same address. This is not a payment checkout, subscription enrollment, or general newsletter signup.
What may change later
The current beta already uses a managed Tertius service with passwordless authentication, server-side OpenAI credentials, usage tracking, Redis-enforced quotas, request limits, and concurrency controls. Production subscription or credit pricing has not been announced. Any future charge and included allowance should be published before billing begins.
Current status: private tester software, managed online processing, a free allowance with changeable beta limits, and no Tertius app fee. Do not infer a lifetime-free promise from beta access.
